PowerPoint - Powerpoint 2007 hyperlink menu item grayed out

I was successful in linking 2 shapes to custom shows in my document but cannot
repeat my success because my hyperlink menu item is grayed out. I think it
has to do with a compatibility option box that showed up and I must have
clicked the wrong choice, disabling this function? How to fix? Thank you

it is possible that the compatibility thing has something to do with it, but
I do not think so. My guess is that you cannot hyperlink because you do not
have anything selected. Try selecting an object before accessing the
Hyperlink menu item.
